For the first time, the grand opening evening of the renowned "Accordion Festival" takes place in the newly renovated Ehrbar Saal.
"Tango" stands for the music of Astor Piazzolla, "5" for the musicians - their own style and origin. Founded in 2021, the ensemble is made up of members of the
Vienna Symphony Orchestra and established soloists from the classical and jazz scene. With the tango as a common stage in the original line-up of Piazzolla, violin, bandoneon, (electric) guitar, piano and double bass, they create their programmes sometimes in the closest connection to the original tradition, sometimes in a completely new, individual guise.
The ensemble's own arrangements and spontaneous improvisations make it unmistakable; this tango is sometimes jazzy, sometimes Balkan tinged, with Viennese echoes or a bossa nova touch - just as the musicians' backgrounds are very different and multicultural. This results in a musical mix of classical music, from baroque to the 21st century, crossover and world music. Following their debut concert at the Wiener Konzerthaus, Tango 5 has played to packed halls in Austria. Unbridled energy, closeness to the audience, changing moderations by the musicians and their stylistic versatility make every Tango5 evening an experience.
