DIE SCHUBERTIADE WIEDEN is "the new Schubertiade in the heart of Vienna", an art song and chamber music concert series launched by Spanish pianist and Viennese by choice Alejandro Picó-Leonís in 2021.

The occasion was the 200th anniversary of the first documented Schubertiade in Franz von Schober's parlour in 1821. Franz Schubert had a close connection to Wieden, where he lived for some time and also died. Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Hugo Wolf, Jean Sibelius and Richard Strauss also lived on Wieden.

Since November 2021, more than 30 established international artists and rising stars of the Viennese music scene have performed at the Schubertiade Wieden. The upcoming 2024/25 season includes five concerts with artists such as State Opera bass Peter Kellner, cellist Maddalena Del Gobbo, violinist Julian Walder and tenor Martin Mairinger. This time, baritone Stefan Astakhov, ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera, tenor David Kerber, ensemble member of the Vienna Volksoper and mezzo-soprano Klaudia Tandl, winner of the Hugo Wolf Competition, will make their debut.

The 4th season of the Schubertiade Wieden follows on from the Ehrbar Saal's annual theme of "Mother Earth". Musical settings ranging from Goethe, Heine and Eichendorff to Chinese poetry convey how our lives, our emotions and our fate are inextricably linked to nature. Accompany the artists on an existential journey through music and poetry in five concerts under the artistic direction of pianist Alejandro Picó-Leonís.
