Maya Purdue piano
Programme
The concert combines the contemplative soundscapes of contemporary Japanese music with the expressive contrasts found in the works of Brahms, Ustvolskaya, Debussy and Beethoven
Christmas parties everywhere. Last-minute, frantic gift-buying. Too many invitations, lavish meals, endless plans – and that constant feeling that there’s still something left to do. What would happen if you allowed yourself a break in the midst of all this hustle and bustle?
Datsuryoku (脱力) is a Japanese concept which literally means ‘letting go of physical tension’. However, it goes beyond mere relaxation: Datsuryoku invites us to release unnecessary pressure, gently direct our attention and be fully present in the here and now.
