Kanon Huang was born into a Taiwanese-Japanese family of musicians in Linz in 2013.
She received her first cello lessons from her father Hsin-Kang Huang at the age of 3. At the age of 5, she gave her first performance as a guest student in Prof Andreas Pözlberger's class recital at Anton Bruckner Private University. At the age of 6, she decided to become a soloist in the future.
She won special 1st prize at the "Jan Vychytil Cello Competition" 2020 in the Czech Republic, as well as 1st prize with distinction at the "Prima la musica" national competition. At the "Goldene Note" of ORF 2021 in Austria. In 2022, at the age of 8, she won 3rd prize at the "International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition for Youth" in the category for 15-year-old participants in Croatia. In autumn she won 2nd prize as the youngest prizewinner at the "International Dotzauer Cello Competition" in Germany. In 2023 she won 1st prize at the "International David Geringas Cello Competition" in Lithuania and 2nd prize at the "David Popper International Competition" in Hungary.
She was featured in the programmes "Stars und Talente" and "Guten Morgen Österreich" and was invited to perform at the "Licht ins Dunkel Gala Konzert". She was selected by the Austrian magazine "Weekend" in the Top 100 Austrians 2021 in the category "Rookies" with 1st place. She was a scholarship holder of many important masterclasses e.g: Music Academy in Liechtenstein, Allegro Vivo, Masterclasses Gutenstein, Erben Music Festival etc.
She completed courses with Steven Isserlis, Maria Kliegel, Ivan Monighetti, Johannes Moser, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Claudio Bohórquez, Matthias Bartolomey, Maria Grün, Reinhard Latzko, Tamás Varga and Ádám Jávorkai.
She plays a cello that was made available to her by violin maker Stephan Schürch.
