Under the artistic direction of Andrea Götsch, the Ehrphilharmonie Wien presents an evening of concert music brimming with energy and musical masterpieces. The orchestra opens the evening with a spirited and richly coloured performance of Joseph Haydn’s Symphony No. 70. A particular highlight follows with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A major, performed by clarinettist Myung Shin, which captivates with its lyrical depth and lightness. After the interval, Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5, one of the most iconic works in the history of music, will be performed.
The clarinettist Myung Shin is a member of the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra and is currently studying on the soloist course at the Korea National University of Arts (K-Arts). He completed his bachelor’s degree at the Yonsei University and went on to complete his Master’s degree at K-Arts. There, he became the first clarinettist ever to be accepted onto the prestigious three-year soloist course. Myung Shin is the Grand Prix winner of the Korean Wind and Percussion Competition as well as the overall winner of the Shinyoung K-Arts Auditions, as part of which he was given a solo recital at the Shinyoung Chamber Hall and was awarded an invitation to perform as a soloist with an orchestra abroad. He is also the winner of the Overseas Dispatch Competition, the Sungjung Competition as well as other major competitions.
