THE LAST C. BECHSTEIN PIANO RECITAL IN 2023 is created by 18-year-old multi-talent Alma Deutscher. She wrote her first composition at the age of six. Labelled a child prodigy and highly praised by conductors such as Zubin Mehta and Sir Simon Rattle, she now performs her own music as a soloist with many international orchestras. Since 2021, Alma Deutscher has been studying conducting with Johannes Wildner at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. The director of the Ehrbar Saal, Cathrin Chytil, brought the talent to Vienna in 2016, where her opera "Cinderella" was premiered. It was a great success. Alma Deutscher then moved to Vienna with her family.

"I will probably play new pieces at the C. Bechstein piano recital that I don't even know yet because I haven't composed them yet."

ALMA DEUTSCHER

ALMA GERMAN, born in 2005, began playing the piano at the age of two and the violin at the age of three. She composed her first piano sonata at the age of six. Between the ages of 9 and 12, she composed a violin concerto and a piano concerto. Zubin Mehta called her "one of the greatest musical talents of her time". Alma Deutscher's opera "Cinderella" was performed in a chamber version in Israel in 2015 and in an orchestral version in Vienna in 2016 and has since been performed several times in various opera houses in America and Europe. In 2019, she released her first solo piano CD "From My Book of Melodies" on Sony Classical. Saarländischer Rundfunk described the album as follows: "The poetry of Franz Schubert, the melancholy of Chopin, the grace, lightness and brilliance of Mozart - all of this can be found in Deutscher's piano gems." In the same year, Alma Deutscher made her debut at Carnegie Hall and was honoured with the European Taurus Cultural Award at the Vienna State Opera. In 2021, an album of her piano pieces was published by G. Schirmer. Alma Deutscher's second full-length opera, "Des Kaisers neue Walzer", a work commissioned by the Salzburg State Theatre, was premiered there in 2023. Alma Deutscher has been studying conducting at the mdw since 2020 and recorded her "Siren Sounds Waltz" as a conductor with the RSO as part of an ORF programme. In 2022, she made her debut as an opera conductor in a production of her opera "Cinderella" at Opera San Jose in the USA. In 2023, she will conduct the Vienna Johann Strauss Capelle in a series of concerts at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
