PIANO I COMPOSITION Marius Binder
MODERATION Paul-Henri Campbell
Workshop talk with the composer Marius S. Binder about his new opera "Lorit"
"The year is 2027 and the last ski season of mankind is coming to an end..."
The composer Marius S. Binder talks about the artistic working process for the end-time opera "Lorit" from the centre of the work in progress. Using piano excerpts, e.g. of musical motifs, the evening develops a discussion about the relationship between text and music, the artistic collaboration with librettists and directors, the challenge and beauty of bringing new opera works to the stage. Marius S. Binder (*1993) studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and composition at the MUK. From the plot of the end-time opera LORITThe year is 2027, the last ski season of mankind is drawing to a close and countless people are flocking to Tyrol one last time to slide downhill on the artificial snow of the desolate ski motorways. Gondola seats are in short supply and all those who manage to push their way through the crowds into one of the cabins thank God and weep with joy - they can hardly believe their luck! We have inconspicuously cheated our way in and find ourselves in a cabin with seven allegorical figures."
