The mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna invites you to a musical memorial evening for Peter Schmidl, one of the most influential clarinetists and music teachers of our time.
As a long-time principal clarinetist with the Vienna Philharmonic, an outstanding teacher at the mdw and managing director of the Vienna Philharmonic, Schmidl left a lasting mark not only musically but also personally. Today, countless of his students, many of them already in the second generation, characterise musical life worldwide - whether on the concert stage, in orchestras or as teachers.
Former students, current mdw students, and musical companions will present this evening with a multifaceted programme that reflects the artistic passion, depth, and warmth that characterise Peter Schmidl as a musician and human being.
