PRAISED for her innate musicality and tonal brilliance, combined with a remarkable instrumental technique, Martina Consonni has established herself as one of the most promising young pianists of her generation.
Her extraordinary musical talent enabled her to win more than 55 prizes at international competitions at a young age, including the Muzio Clementi Competition, the Grand Prize Virtuoso in London, the Bruno Bettinelli Competition, the Franz Terraneo Prize and the Casella Prize at the prestigious Pre-mio Venezia at the Teatro La Fenice. More recently, she was honoured with the Daniele Gay Prize as the best young Italian talent and the Roscini Padalino Prize from Perugia Musica Classica.

She made her debut at the age of ten with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bacau, where she played Haydn's concerto under the direction of Ovidiu Balan. She has worked with conductors such as Gelmini, Kessick, Boni, Bellisario and Terreni as well as with orchestras such as the Orchestra Sinfonica del Lario, the Orchestra Sinfonica di Alessandria, the Orchestra da Camera di Imola and the Orchestra Giovanile Pisana.

 

Martina is in demand internationally as a soloist and chamber musician.
She has performed in renowned venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro Sociale in Como, the Palazzo Pitti in Florence, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Teatro Cittadella in Lugano, the Sala dei Giganti in Padua, the Debussy Museum in Paris, the Sala Ateneu in Bacau, the St. Stephen Church in New York, the Parco della Musica in Rome, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna, the Forum Casale in Kronberg, the Filarmonia Narowa in Warsaw, the Fil. Stephen Church in New York, Parco della Musica in Rome, Royal Albert Hall in London, Auditorium Manzoni in Bologna, Forum Casals in Kronberg, Filharmonia Narodowa in Warsaw.
She is a regular guest at international festivals such as Rheingau Musik Festival, Kronberg Academy Festival, Heidelberger Klavierwoche, Debussy Festival Paris, MiTo Settembre Musica, Amiata Piano Festival, Gravedona Chamber Music Festival, Lerici Music Festival, Chamber Music Connects the World, Trame Sonore, Perugia Musica Classica, Società dei Concerti Milan.

 

Her love of chamber music and her outstanding talent have led her to share the stage with many great instrumentalists, including Steven Isserlis, Tabea Zimmermann, Enrico Dindo, Enrico Bronzi, Francesca Dego, Adrian Brendel, Francesco Dillon, Edoardo Zosi, Seiji Okamoto, Anouchka Hack and Erica Piccotti. She has made several recordings for Rai Radio Tre, Venice Classic Radio and for the independent label Movimento Classical by Bartok Studio.

 

BORN on 16 October 1997 in Como, she completed her piano studies with distinction at the age of fourteen and then continued her studies with Enrico Pace at the International Academy "Incontri col Maestro" in Imola.
She obtained two soloist master's degrees with highest honours at the Pavia Conservatory and at the HMTM in Hanover with Professor Arie Vardi, as well as a master's degree in chamber music with top marks at the National Academy "Santa Cecilia" in Rome. She has been selected to take part in numerous masterclasses, meeting internationally renowned musicians such as András Schiff, Steven Isserlis, Christopher Eschenbach, Nikolai Demidenko, Piotr Paleczny, Franco Scala, Ingrid Fliter and Andrea Bonatta.

 

She is now one of the three piano students selected for the Sir András Schiff Performance Programme at Kronberg Academy, generously funded by the Henle Foundation, and is also studying for the Artist Diploma at the Barenboim-Said Akademie in Berlin with Sir András Schiff.

 

She is a prizewinner of the Fondation Gautier Capuçon, thanks to which she will record her first CD for Warner Classic in early 2023, and has also received scholarships from the De Sono Association in Turin and the Freunde Junger Musiker Berlin.
Highlights of the coming season include debuts at the Wigmore Hall in London and the Konzerthaus Berlin.

 

At the invitation of Sir András Schiff, she will perform throughout Europe in 2023/24 as part of the Building Bridges concert series.
