Viennese are happy
Under the title LIEBEN - LEBEN - LASSEN, the Webern Chamber Choir, together with a saxophone quartet from the mdw, will perform a concert that thematically explores love, transience, and the joy of living.
The programme combines works from different eras and styles. The romantic compositions by Clara Schumann Evening party in Venice, Forward, Gondoliera and Johannes Brahms' Love song waltz Op. 52 deal with different facets of love. Franz Liszt's Our Father stands in contrast to this as a sacred work, while Richard Wagner's Dreams, in an arrangement by Clytus Gottwald, thematises the connection between love and longing.
A modern accent comes from Giya Kanchelis Amao omi a work by the contemporary Georgian composer, which unfolds its very own emotional depth through its special tonal language.
Finally, the programme concludes with Viennese, be happy by Johann Strauss. On the occasion of the Strauss anniversary year, the choral version of the world-famous Danube Waltz will be performed with its original lyrics.
The concert invites you to experience the different musical perspectives on love, life and letting go - interpreted by young musicians from the mdw.
Organised by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna - mdw.
