The Institute for Singing and Music Theatre at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is home to classes for opera, song and oratorio.
Around 150 students are enrolled at the institute, for whom regular presentations in front of a larger audience are an important pedagogical factor and therefore part of their training - there is a big difference between performing an aria or a song in a small practice room and having to prove yourself in front of an audience in a large room. Concerts are therefore of central importance for vocal students.
