Competition winners Chamber music ensemble
For many music students, pursuing a career in a chamber music ensemble is a great dream and the ultimate fulfilment. Chamber music opens up wonderful learning processes about making music: The equal development of a joint interpretation requires all participants to realise the importance of their own voice within the musical structure of the work. They experience how strong the influence of their own playing is on that of others and how a greater shared energy is created. They learn how to listen carefully, how to lead and follow and how to formulate their musical ideas and show them to others. In piano chamber music, playing with the timbres and functions of the different instruments opens up yet another exciting dimension.
... was conceived by MUK Professor Jean Beers (Head of the Department of Keyboard Instruments, Music Direction and Composition) and her colleague and MUK Professor Livia Sellin (Head of the Department of String Instruments) is organising a concert dedicated to chamber music. The performing students are selected in an internal competition and design their own programme, with a focus on originality and creativity. MUK Young Artists present... is an opportunity for students to present themselves in a solo debut or as an ensemble, thereby laying the foundations for building up their own audience.
