It is very important to us to bring the Lied genre closer to the audience again. We would like to present this varied and lively cycle of musical miniatures by Hugo Wolf to the public as an intimate counterpoint to the great musical forms. We are already enjoying the stimulating and intensive rehearsals. These old Italian texts, translated into German, not only deal with classic relationship conflicts, but also break up traditional male and female role models with a great deal of subversive humour. The cycle covers the entire spectrum of interpersonal emotions such as infatuation, quarrelling, mockery, heartbreak and reconciliation.
