"Un Ballo in Maschera" is an opera by Giuseppe Verdi. The premiere took place in 1859 and the opera is based on the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden (whom Verdi transformed into Riccardo, the governor of Boston). It is set in the 18th century and interweaves themes of love, betrayal and political intrigue. The story revolves around the complicated love triangle between the governor, his best friend and the friend's wife, Amelia. Amidst political conspiracies and romantic turmoil, the characters navigate conflicting emotions and loyalties, leading to a tragic climax. Verdi's captivating music and compelling narrative make "Un Ballo in Maschera" a timeless masterpiece of the operatic repertoire.

"Think of a 19th century royal soap opera with a murderous twist - literally. Love triangles, secrets and masked balls, all accompanied by some incredibly catchy tunes. It's like 'The Bachelor' meets 'Game of Thrones', but with arias instead of dragons!"

Dress code - With masks (you can bring your own or buy one for 2 euros before the performance).
