Dorothy Khadem-Missagh, praised by Gramophone Magazine as a "breath of fresh air", is a pianist and conductor as well as founder and artistic director of the festival Beethoven Spring and its orchestra.
As a pianist, Dorothy Khadem-Missagh performs on important stages and in concert halls such as the Musikverein Vienna, Vienna Konzerthaus, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Brucknerhaus Linz and Seognam Art Centre - and now in the Ehrbar Saal. She has performed at internationally renowned festivals such as the Moselle Music Festival, the Kyoto International Festival, the Palermo Classica Festival, the Liszt Festival Raidingthe Styriarte Grazand the Tyrolean Festival Erl. She has performed as a soloist with the Seoul Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tonkünstler Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra and the Academia Allegro Vivo on. A passionate chamber musician, Dorothy Khadem-Missagh is a founding member of the Vienna Piano Trio Trio Vision with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra Ekaterina Frolova (violin) and Peter Somodari (solo cellist). She also performs with outstanding chamber music partners such as Christian Altenburger, Matthias Schorn, Matthias Bartolomey, Jiyoon Lee, KS Wolfgang Bankl and others.
Born in Austria, she received her first piano lessons at the age of three. At the age of six, she was already accepted into the University of Music and Performing Arts Viennawhere she studied with Noel Flores, Jan Jiracek von Arnim and others, and in Salzburg with Pavel Gililov. She also received important musical impulses from Martha Argerich, Rudolf Buchbinder, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Sir András Schiff, Menahem Pressler and Robert Levin.
Dorotyh Khadem-Missagh is the winner of the Bonn International Beethoven Competitionthe International Béla Bartók Competitionfinalist of the New York International Piano Competition and prizewinner of the piano competition in Ettlingen and the International Piano Competition "Ricard Vines". It became the Verbier Festival Academy and the Aspen Music Festival invited.
Numerous recordings document her outstanding musical work. Her album with works by Ludwig van Beethoven and the first recording of his long-forgotten contemporary Karl Traugott Zeuner on Ars Produktion was nominated in several categories for the prestigious Opus Klassik Award and was highly praised by international critics. In 2021, the album of her Trio Vision with works by Beethoven, Brahms and Gál as Ö1 CD of the month and received great recognition in the BBC Music Magazine.
