The 4th season of the Schubertiade Wieden follows on from the annual theme of the Ehrbar Saal Mother Nature on. Musical settings ranging from Goethe, Heine and Eichendorff to Chinese poetry convey how our lives, our emotions and our fate are inextricably linked to nature. An existential journey through music and poetry.
... was launched by Alejandro Picó-Leonis in 2021 as an art song and chamber music concert series to mark the 200th anniversary of the first documented Schubertiade (1821 in Franz von Schober's salon).
Franz Schubert had a close connection to Wieden, where he lived for some time and also died. Johannes Brahms, Antonín Dvořák, Hugo Wolf, Jean Sibelius and Richard Strauss also lived on Wieden.
Since its inception, more than 30 established international artists and rising stars of the Viennese music scene have performed at the Schubertiade Wieden. The 2024/25 season includes five concerts with artists such as State Opera bass Peter Kellner, cellist Maddalena del Gobbo, violinist Julian Walder, tenor Martin Mairinger and renowned baritone Professor Wolfgang Holzmair. This time, baritone Stefan Astakhov, ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera, tenor David Kerber, ensemble member of the Vienna Volksoper and mezzo-soprano Klaudia Tandl, winner of the Hugo Wolf Competition, will be making their debut.
