About the Capella Academica Wien Founded 60 years ago by Eduard Melkus, the eminent Austrian violinist and professor of violin, baroque violin and historical performance practice at today's University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (mdw), the Capella Academica ensemble's subscription concerts are dedicated to the performance of chamber music from the Renaissance to the present day. Music in the context of visual art plays an important role in the programmes, and each concert programme includes a short art-historical lecture on works or themes related to the musical programme. In September 2025, founder Prof. Eduard Melkus (*1928) handed over the direction of the ensemble to Dr Harald Schlosser, who has been a regular clarinettist in the concerts since 1989. In addition to its traditional subscription cycle at Palais Lobkowitz, Capella Academica Wien is presenting three additional concerts in the Ehrbar Saal this season with soloists and ensembles from its circle of participating artists.

Organised by and more detailed information at Capella Academica. Tickets at € 50,-/40,-/20,- (cat. 1/wheelchair/pupils & students) at the box office and in advance via eventjet.at (link; the title there is Cycle „Music in the Museum“ 3rd additional concert).
