The Argentinian composer and bandoneonist Joaquín Alem presents his programme BACH-ianos for bandoneon solo. Fugues, chorales, toccatas and passacaglias, inspired by the music of Johann S. Bach, meet the melancholy of Buenos Aires. Born in Argentina in 1975, bandoneonist and composer Joaquín Alem is a versatile musician based in Germany. A master of the bandoneon and a composer of works ranging from bandoneon solo to contemporary chamber music, tango nuevo and orchestral music. He has performed as a performer, composer and arranger with the Oldenburg State Orchestra, the State Orchestra Rheinische Philharmonie Koblenz, the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Philharmonic Orchestra Bremerhaven. Since 2016, he has been a lecturer at the Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, where he teaches composition. In 2020, he led the practical seminar "Bandoneon", the first time this instrument was part of the curriculum at a German university. In 2021 he received a scholarship as a professional composer from GEMA and in 2022 from the German Music Council, after which he composed the tango ballet Romeo y Julieta, which premiered at the Glocke - Das Bremer Konzerthaus. In 2023, he received six nominations for the German Classical Music Award "Opus Klassik", including Composer of the Year and Instrumentalist of the Year.
