Andrei Gologan was born in Romania. He received his first piano lesson at the age of five and won his first piano competition just six months later. In the following years, he continued his musical education in Romania with pianist and composer Iulian Arcadi Trofin and later studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg with Pavel Gililov, graduating with honours.
Deeply rooted in the traditions of the past and at the same time endeavouring to redefine the future of classical music, Andrei Gologan is developing an international reputation as a thought-provoking concert pianist.
His poetic interpretations have earned him the support of legendary pianists such as Sir András Schiff and Richard Goode, leading to invitations from some of Europe's most prestigious festivals and concert halls - including the Hercules Hall in Munich, the Wigmore Hall in London, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival and the Heidelberg Spring.
Upcoming highlights include the second edition of the Buzz Chamber Music Festival in Obertrum am See (Austria), a re-invitation to the Enescu Festival in Bucharest and his debut with the KALA Chamber Orchestra and the Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is also releasing his first studio album with works by Brahms. Recorded on a C. Bechstein D 282 concert grand piano in the Deutschlandfunk studio in Cologne, this project will be accompanied by a release tour, with recitals at the Konzerthaus Berlin and at the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna.
In addition to his concert activities, Andrei was appointed as a lecturer for chamber music at the Freiburg University of Music in 2024. Away from the stage, he draws inspiration from the art of Ignaz Friedman, Bill Evans and Sergiu Celibidache.
