4th International Helmut Deutsch Song Competition

The International Helmut Deutsch Lied Competition is Vienna's first and only regular competition for singers dedicated exclusively to the song works of Austrian composers. In addition to famous names such as Schubert, Wolf and Mahler, the focus is also on a lesser-known but unforgotten composer. The competition will take place for the fourth time in 2023 with the artistic support of the mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. It is intended to give young talents a jump-start in their careers and the opportunity to prove themselves in front of a critical audience.

"I have probably performed Winterreise 200 times in my life, and maybe three or four times I was at a point where I could say, yes, I wasn't at 100 %, but maybe at 95%. And that is also something that drives you."
