WALZER AND OTHER ENTERTAINMENT AND DANCE MUSIC DES 19. UNTIL THE 21ST CENTURY
They were successful entrepreneurs, bandleaders, composers, directors of large and small ensembles that toured throughout Europe.
This concert presents for the first time the great female waltz composers who conquered the world with their music from Vienna.
They were in dialogue with the Strauss family, dedicated works to each other and were invited to compose and perform for their Majesties. They played at the World Exhibition, the grand balls and imperial festivals. They were not inferior to the men of their time in terms of prestige and business acumen, and certainly not in the quality of their compositions. The explorer's view of the hidden figures of popular music, however, urgently calls for an extension into the present. It is astonishing and yet hardly surprising how many female contemporaries in Austria have discovered the waltz as a contemporary form of composition!
Celebrate the first day of the new year with us with feminine waltzes.
