"This timeless opera captures the fleeting nature of youth, love and friendship in a marvellous way and touches audiences across generations," writes the director of the Vienna Summer Music Festival, Michael Polo. Puccini's La Bohème is set in the bohemian heart of Paris and tells the story of the passionate romance between the struggling artist Rodolfo and the delicate seamstress Mimì. Their love blossoms in the company of Rodolfo's friends - the poet Marcello, the musician Schaunard and the philosopher Colline - who share the joys and hardships of artistic life. But when Mimì's health deteriorates, her idyllic world is overshadowed by heartbreaking challenges.
