The United Accordionists of South America make their European debut.
What does the accordion sound like in South America? This question led the Austrian accordionist Daniel Stratznig on a seven-month journey – „through South America with a rucksack and an accordion“.
It was from this musical journey of discovery that the idea arose to bring together the continent’s finest accordionists to form a single ensemble.
The result is an extraordinary programme that showcases the musical diversity of South America: from the pulsating and rousing vallenato music of Colombia, through the traditional pasillo of Ecuador and the virtuoso forró of Brazil, to the candombe of Uruguay, the classical tango of the Río de la Plata and the chamamé of Argentina.
The musicians, including Paco Godoy, Ecuador’s answer to „Hubert von Goisern“, Lacides Romero, the Colombian accordion legend; Santhyago Ríos, the rising star of the Argentine accordion scene; and Pablo Machado, a Uruguayan multi-instrumentalist and accordionist, will perform traditional popular music and their own compositions.
Following their first joint concert in 2023 in Quito, Ecuador, the group is now coming to Europe for the first time in 2027.
Captivating, authentic and uniting people across nations, this musical portrait of South America takes shape – the whole of South America condensed into a single concert hall.
