23 August 2025 marked the 125th anniversary of Ernst Krenek's birth. A welcome occasion to review his music on the basis of his song compositions. As a proven Krenek expert, who has interpreted and recorded the well-known "Reisebuch aus den österreichischen Alpen" Op. 62 countless times, Wolfgang Holzmair will present known and unknown songs. In addition to previously unperformed early songs from his youth in Vienna, which have been made readable and edited especially for this concert, he will also perform later songs from his student days in Berlin and the USA, where he had to emigrate. In conversation with Marie-Therese Rudolph, Wolfgang Holzmair will share his insights into the composer and writer with the audience. A song recital with the potential for discovery!
Organised by the Ernst Krenek Institute Private Foundation. Tickets at € 30,-/18,- (regular/reduced) at the box office (cash only) and in advance via eventjet.at (Link). Further information: www.krenek.at, wolfgangholzmair.com and www.saschaelmouissi.com.
