Nach den Podiumsdiskussionen sind Kommentare und Fragen des Publikums zugelassen. Den ersten Tag wird ein kleiner Empfang abrunden.\r\n\r\nGutes und im besten Sinne des Ausdrucks \u201ewasserdichtes\u201c Regietheater ist anspruchsvoll. Es verlangt eine profunde Kenntnis des Opernhandwerks, der St\u00fccke sowie der entsprechenden Musik. Die Konzipierung des sog. Wagnerschen Regietheaters in den 1970er Jahren, mit wegweisenden Inszenierungen des \u201eRing des Nibelungen\u201c durch Joachim Herz in Leipzig, Ulrich Melchinger in Kassel und Patrice Ch\u00e9reau, mit seinem sog. \u201eJahrhundert-Ring\u201c 1976 in Bayreuth, waren in diesem Sinne epochemachend.\r\n\r\nEs gibt aber Beispiele in der j\u00fcngeren Vergangenheit, wo pers\u00f6nliche und politische Anspr\u00fcche und Begehrlichkeiten vor das Bem\u00fchen um k\u00fcnstlerische Leistung gesetzt wurden, mit der Folge sich leerender H\u00e4user. Das betrifft vor allem die mittleren, die B- und C-H\u00e4user, die weitaus meisten also, aber auch einige gro\u00dfe H\u00e4user und Festspiele. Nach einem ersten Symposium zu diesem Thema in Bayreuth im August 2022 soll das zweite Symposium in Wien, die in Bayreuth angesprochenen Aspekte, weiter vertiefen.\r\n\r\nNach M\u00f6glichkeit sollen L\u00f6sungsans\u00e4tze zur Aufrechterhaltung des Publikumsinteresses an der Oper aufgezeigt werden.
